Rolling Across the Sand

For those who want to get right down to the water’s edge, there are special items available. At the Ed Walline Regional Beach Access, you’ll find wheelchair-friendly mats that create a sturdy path across the soft, sugar-white sand.

The South Walton Fire District (SWFD) offers beach wheelchairs at the following beach accesses from 10 a.m. until 5.30 p.m. daily through the lifeguard season: Miramar Beach, Ed Walline, Santa Clara, Inlet Beach.

SoWal Insider’s Tip: If you’re heading to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, don’t miss the wheelchair-accessible electric tram, (along with paved trails) It’s an easy way to navigate the park and enjoy the scenery without the stress. And off the beach along the bay don’t miss Eden Gardens State Park on Tucker Bayou with lots of paved trails and an accessible tour of the Wesley Mansion.
